CREDO Receives Cabling Installation & Maintenance Innovators 2019 Gold Award for HiWire™ Active Electrical Cables (AEC)

AEC is a new class of Plug & Play 400G Interconnect to Telcos and Data Centers Supported by a Consortium of leading OEM, ODM, IC, and Test and Verification partners

San Jose, Calif., October 1, 2019 – CREDO, a global innovation leader in Serializer-Deserializer (SerDes) technology and HiWire Active Electrical Cables (AEC), a new class of datacenter interconnect accelerating the transition to 400G, today announced that its’ AEC products have been recognized as a Gold Winner of the Cabling Installation & Maintenance Innovators Award.

“On behalf of the Cabling Installation & Maintenance Innovators Awards, I would like to congratulate CREDO on their Gold–level honoree status,” said Cabling Installation & Maintenance’s Chief Editor Patrick McLaughlin. “This competitive, unbiased program celebrates the most original and innovative products in the Industry.”

CREDO recently announced the production launch of a broad family of AECs, a high performance, affordable solution to interconnecting 100G and 400G switches, routers and servers. AECs are now available at a fraction of the cost of Active Optical Cables (AOCs).  HiWire AECs have integrated retiming, speed shifting and Forward Error Correction (FEC) making direct PAM4 to NRZ connections simple while guaranteeing a fully equalized signal at an ultra-low bit error rate.

“We are delighted at the enthusiastic reception of HiWire AECs and the industry’s support of the technology through the HiWire Consortium,” said CREDO’s Sr. Director of Product, Don Barnetson. “This new class of interconnect will help accelerate the transition to 400G by making it more robust, lower power and more affordable.”

AECs are fully Multi-Sourcing Agreement (MSA) compliant with the development of solutions for 400G and future 800G supported by the HiWire™ Consortium, a partnership of 26 companies that represent datacenters, communications, switch design and manufacturers, and cabling and interconnect suppliers.

Credo 400G Connectivity Solutions on Full Display at ECOC 2019

100G/400G Optical DSP, 400G HiWire AEC, and 400G Linecard Solutions

DUBLIN--ECOC – Credo, a global innovation leader in Serializer-Deserializer (SerDes) technology which delivers high performance, low power connectivity solutions for 100G, 400G, and 800G port enabled networks, today announced a wide range of Credo Connectivity solutions will be demonstrated at the European Commission on Optical Communication (ECOC) show in Royal Dublin Showground, Dublin, Ireland from September 23 – September 25, 2019.

Datacenter bandwidth requirements, expanding to keep up with new artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), advanced communications, and video workloads require robust and high available connections to deliver performance at scale. Credo’s robust family of purpose built, low power connectivity solutions address this bandwidth super cycle requirement.

Additionally, Credo recently announced the HiWire™ Active Electrical Cable (AEC) interconnect family and the HiWire Consortium to enable this new category of plug and play interconnect designed for affordable, lossless operation at 100G, 200G, 400G, and faster speeds. These Active Electrical Cable (AEC) provide deterministic, persistent in-rack and inter-rack connections at lower cost and lower power of alternative approaches. The AEC family also provides system level, in-cable speedshifting for seamless connectivity of 50G PAM4 enabled switch ports to widely available 25G NRZ based servers.

At ECOC, Hall 1 Balcony, Room #20, Credo will be demonstrating:

  • Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) Showcase (Booth #441)

    • 112G VSR demo

    • 112G XSR demo

  • Consortium for On-Board Optics (COBO) Exhibit (Booth #138)

    • 112G VSR demo

“We are excited to be demonstrating a wide range of Credo technology at this year’s 45th annual ECOC,” said Jeff Twombly, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Credo. “We especially believe the 400G readiness demonstrates real opportunities to implement 400G port connected solutions for material savings now.”
